Siruthuli Re-Greening The City Initiative By Planting Saplings At SITRA

As many as 3,351 saplings will be planted at South India Textile Research Association by Siruthuli and Indian Texpreneurs Federation (ITF).
And the sapling planting ceremony was held with members from Siruthuli and ITF taking part. The saplings will be planted in the Miyawaki method next to the airport road junction at South Indian Textile Research Association (SITRA) premises.
Marching ahead in its mission of planting atleast one tree for every citizen of the city, the event was organised to make more people aware of the need for re-greening the city which is fast becoming a concrete jungle. This also happens to be a curtain raiser of the 13th edition of the Kovai Vizha.
A total of 3351 native plants will be planted at the site as per the Miyawaki method that will soon become a green belt in the busy traffic junction, which is located near the main entrance of SITRA towards the Avinashi road. The plantation is being sponsored by ITF as part of their program of ITF Regreen, working towards conservation of the environment. The program was presided by Shri Prabhu Damodaran, Convenor ITF, who inaugurated the event by planting the first sapling of the plantation followed by the others. Members of the ITF, Kovai Vizha, Staff and officials of SITRA, Managing Trustee of Siruthuli, Smt Vanitha Mohan, Apex members and staff were in attendance. Shri Prabhu Damodaran also released the January 2021 edition of “Noyyal Times”, the Quarterly news magazine of Siruthuli and it was received by the members of ITF and other guests.
