KMCH Launches ‘Project HEAL’ Mobile Unit

In a joint initiative, Kovai Medical Center and Hospital (KMCH) and Rotary District 3202 alongwith the Rotary Club of Mettupalayam as the Lead Club launched Project HEAL aimed at offering free screening and free surgery for breast cancer and cervical cancer among underprivileged women across 30,000 sq. km area. A vehicle will be fitted with advanced digital mammography devices and Pap smear testing equipment, and will go to various locations within this region to provide these free services.
Breast cancer today is the most common type of cancer among women in our region, and cervical cancer is the second most common. If the cancer is detected during the early stages, it can be cured easily and inexpensively. However, if it is detected in advanced stages, treatment is both expensive and arduous. The goal of Project HEAL is to detect and treat early. HEAL stands for High Awareness, Early Detection, Affordable Treatment and Low Mortality.
