CODISSIA Signs Pact With IAF To Mentor Startups

CODISSIA Defence Innovation and Atal Incubation Centre (CDIIC) signed an MoU with the Indian Air Force (IAF) at the Aero India 2021 fair in Bengaluru. The pact was signed in the presence of Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat and Secretary (Defence Production) Raj Kumar.
According to CODISSIA president M V Ramesh Babu, the IAF was represented by Air Vice Marshal S Ramakrishnan, Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Maintenance Plans) while CDIIC was represented by M.V. Ramesh Babu, President, CODISSIA/Director, CDIIC and V. Sundaram, Director, CDIIC.
CODISSIA members thanked Air Officer Commanding (AOC) of 5 BRD, Sulur, IAF, Air Cmde PK Sreekumar for his continuous support in signing the MoU.
The MoU was signed with an objective of finding solutions for Repair & Overhaul/indigenisation of parts, sub-assemblies, assemblies, aggregates, LRUs, etc for aircraft of the IAF and to provide mentoring to the startup companies incubated at CDIIC.
Being India’s First Defence Innovation Hub as well as an Atal Incubation Centre, CDIIC also participated in various events at the Aero India 2021, including the Startup Manthan 2021 organised by Defence Innovation Organisation (DIO) in which the directors of CDIIC had a constructive interaction with Dr. Ajay Kumar, Defence Secretary and Sanjay Jaju, Additional Secretary, Defence Production.
During the interaction with the Defence Secretary, it was revealed that the Ministry of Defence (MOD) has plans to pump in around Rs. 1000 crores in Defence-based startups under the iDEX initiative and support MSMEs to take up indigenisation projects under Atma Nirbhar Abhiyan.
Apart from the signing of MoU, CDIIC had fruitful interaction with B. Elangovan, Senior General Manager, Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation Ltd (TIDCO). CDIIC team alongwith TIDCO, networked with representatives of the IAF, Ministry of Defence (MOD) and other foreign companies & OEMs like BAE systems, representatives from French Embassy in India, etc. TIDCO is very much interested to join hands with CODISSIA for Defence Manufacturing related projects and is ready to invest about Rs. 250 crores.
CODISSIA started working to host Defence Manufacturing Expo at our Trade Fair Complex.
