It’s A Royal Sojourn For Jumbos At Thekkampatti

Local Administration Minister S P Velumani, State Forest Minister Dindigul Srinivasan and HR&CE Minister Sevvur Ramachandran inaugurated the 48 day elephant rejuvenation camp at Thekkampatti near here. About 26 elephants from across the temples in Tamil Nadu were brought to the camp alongwith the mahouts.
Launched in 2013, this is the 13th camp being held at Mettupalayam. With a view identifying the weight of the elephants, a private weigh bridge on Annur four road junction has been engaged. After the elephants were alighted from the lorries, they were taken near Vanabadrakaliamman temple flag post wherein special pujas were performed.
People all through the route to Thekkampatti had a peek at the elephants. Elephants that are taking part at the rejuvenation camp were from Sriperumpudur Adikesava Perumal and Bhasyakarasamy temple, Tiruvannamalai Renugambal amman temple and Ramar temple, Mannargudi Rajagopalaswamy temple, Srirangam Ranganathaswamy temple, Tiruchi Thayumanaswamy temple, Thiruvanaikaval Jambukeswarar Akilandeswari temple, Madurai Meenakshi Sundareswarar temple, Alagarkoil Kallazhagar temple, Palani Dhandayuthapani temple, Tiruparamkundram Subramaniasamy temple, Rameswaram Ramanathaswamy temple, Sivaganga Sornakaleeswarar temple, Srivilliputhur Nachiyar temple, Perur Patteeswarar swamy temple, Sankarankovil Sankaranarayana Swami temple.
