BAPLA with Sadhu Vaswani Centre Rally for Meatless Day

As many as 300 children from Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Sindhi Vidyalaya, alongwith Bharathi Park Ladies Association took part at the awareness rally on November 23 by the Coimbatore chapter of Sadhu Vaswani Centre.
With placards to create awareness on Meatless day, the school children waded through main thoroughfare from Avinashilingam Home Science College to reach Government College of Technology.
Besides, they conducted signature campaign involving 24420 school children for this meatless day event. Every year the schools in Coimbatore sign pledges to go without meat on November 25th. Bharathi Park Ladies Association also celebrated the meatless day by conducting a vegetarian cookery competition.
The International Meatless Day campaign was first started in India in 1986 by the Sadhu Vaswani Mission (Pune) – a Social service organization with a spiritual aim dedicated to serving mankind, especially the poor and downtrodden. It is also a significant day for Animal Rights groups. The campaign is aimed at creating awareness on having reverence for all life as life must be regarded sacred. A plea is being made to refrain from eating non-veg food on this day. On this day the organization invites all humanity to join them to have reverence for all life for at least one day. Thus this day is also known as World Vegetarian Day in several parts of the world.
This awareness rally was flagged off from the Avinashilingam Home Science College. Students waded through the main thoroughfare to reach Government College of Technology.
