Athvik M and Sruthi U of Kovai Kids Chess Academy emerged as champions in Under 7 Coimbatore District selection chess tournament held recently at Hindustan college of Arts and Science.They have been qualified to represent Coimbatore District in the forthcoming Tamil Nadu State Chess championship in Under 7 years category to be held at Salem from May 8 to 11.
Athvik M is 6 years old and studies UKG in Vidhya Niketan school and surprisingly he has started to play chess only by September 2018. His extreme interest in the game and hardwork made him win the first place and also this is his first ever trophy in a chess tournament. Sruthi U is 7 years old and is a first standard student in Chinmaya Vidhyalaya. Sruthi is a very polite kid and she has been rightly motivated to play against stronger opponents after she won a big trophy in this selection. Playing chess not only helps in collecting trophies at tournaments but also helps the children to correctly mould them into better human beings.
